چکیده

Abstract In a chiral one-dimensional atom, photon propagating in one direction interacts with the atom; other does not. Chiral quantum optics has applications creating nanoscopic single-photon routers, circulators, phase-shifters, and two-photon gates. Here, we implement using low-noise dot an open microcavity. We demonstrate non-reciprocal absorption of single photons, diode. The non-reciprocity, ratio transmission forward-direction to reverse direction, is as high 10.7 dB. This achieved by tuning photon-emitter coupling situ optimal operating condition ( β = 0.5). Proof that non-reciprocity arises from emitter lies statistics—ultralow-power laser light diode’s results highly bunched output g (2) (0) 101), showing component largely removed.

Photoconductance of a one-dimensional quantum dot

The ac-transport properties of a one-dimensional quantum dot with non-Fermi liquid correlations are investigated. It is found that the linear photoconductance is drastically influenced by the interaction. While for weak interaction it shows peak-like resonances, in the strong interaction regime it assumes a step-like behavior. In both cases the photo-transport provides precise informations abou...

A Quantum Dot Microcavity Terahertz Laser

We discuss a THz laser device based on a semiconductor quantum dot (QD) gain medium, where the lasing occurs through discrete conduction states. An ensemble of QDs is selectively placed in a high quality cavity, called a microdisk, which is resonant with a terahertz intersublevel QD transition. We simulate the rate equations goveming iasing and discuss a variety of processes affecting lasing in...

Comment on "single-mode spontaneous emission from a single quantum dot in a three-dimensional microcavity".

The spontaneous emission from an isolated semiconductor quantum dot state has been coupled with high efficiency to a single, polarization-degenerate cavity mode. The InAs quantum dot is epitaxially formed and embedded in a planar epitaxial microcavity, which is processed into a post of submicron diameter. The single quantum dot spontaneous emission lifetime is reduced from the noncavity value o...

Microwave quantum optics with an artificial atom in one-dimensional open space

We address recent advances in microwave quantum optics with artificial atoms in one-dimensional (1D) open space. This field relies on the fact that the coupling between a superconducting artificial atom and propagating microwave photons in a 1D open transmission line can be made strong enough to observe quantum coherent effects, without using any cavity to confine the microwave photons. We inve...

Interacting electrons in a one-dimensional quantum dot.

The spectral properties of up to four interacting electrons confined within a quasi one–dimensional system of finite length are determined by numerical diagonalization including the spin degree of freedom. The ground state energy is investigated as a function of the electron number and of the system length. The limitations of a description in terms of a capacitance are demonstrated. The energet...
